Main Branches

The State ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵDepartment has the following main branches, each under the direction of the ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵer of Education:

(P-12)
The ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ of P-12 ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵoversees pre-K through 12th grade programs. The ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ of P-12 ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵhas diverse responsibilities carried out by the .

(OHE)
This division oversees colleges, universities and proprietary schools; is responsible for the certification of teachers and other school professionals; and oversees programs to improve teacher preparation and recruitment.

(OCE)
OCE includes the , the , the , ÌýÌýand theÌý. These institutions are responsible for increasing the knowledge and information resources of State and local government, businesses, and individuals. The ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ supports research, operates programs, and develops collections that serve the long-term interests of the institutions and residents of New York and support arts education for high-school students.

(PIMS)
PIMS includes the offices of Information Technology, Facilities and Business Services, State Review ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ and External Audits.

(CFO)
CFO includes the offices ofÌýHuman Resources, Fiscal Services, Budget Coordination, ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵFinance, Internal Audit and Internal Controls.

(OP)
Since 1891, the Board of Regents and the New York State ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵDepartment have overseen the preparation, licensure, and practice of the professions. Currently, the ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ regulates forty-eight professions defined in Title VIII of the ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵLaw.

The ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵ of Adult Career and Continuing ¿ì²¥ÊÓƵServices (ACCES) focuses on the education and employment needs of New York State's adults:Ìý (including Independent Living Administration), , , and .
