Board of Regents Appoints Assistant 첥Ƶer for the 첥Ƶ of Curriculum & Instruction and Early Learning
The Board of Regents today appointed Marybeth Casey as the Assistant 첥Ƶer for the 첥Ƶ of Curriculum and Instruction and Early Learning, effective immediately.
“Ms. Casey brings a depth of knowledge and experience that will be a tremendous benefit to every child in New York State,” Board of Regents Chancellor Betty A. Rosa said. “I am proud to welcome Marybeth to her new role and look forward to the work she will do to ensure that every child in our state has access to a high-quality education.”

Ms. Casey brings to the Assistant 첥Ƶer position nearly 14 years of service at the State 첥ƵDepartment, most recently as the Director of the 첥Ƶ of Curriculum Services where she is responsible for the oversight and administration of the office and the 첥Ƶ of Career and Technical 첥Ƶ(CTE). In this role, she has led major projects including various phases of the revision, adoption and rollout of learning standards including the Next Generation ELA and Mathematics standards, the NYS P-12 Science Standards, the NYS P-12 Arts Standards, the NYS P-12 Physical 첥ƵStandards and the NYS K-12 Computer Science and Digital Fluency Standards.
Prior to joining the Department, Ms. Casey was a classroom teacher at Averill Park, Bennington and Troy City School Districts. She earned a Master of Science, 첥Ƶfrom Sage Graduate School and her Bachelor of Science, Economics from the State University of New York at Albany.
The Department’s 첥Ƶ of Curriculum and Instruction is responsible for setting the learning standards for what all students should know and be able to do as a result of skilled instruction, local school districts develop curricula based on the established standards. The 첥Ƶ of Early Learning provides oversight and technical support to school districts in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs and policies related to educating students in prekindergarten to third grade that are aligned with the Board of Regents Early Childhood Policy. The 첥Ƶ of Career and Technical 첥Ƶ(CTE) oversees the State’s program approval process for CTE as well as distribution and oversight of the State’s $53 million in federal Perkins funds.
