National College Credit Recommendation Service (NCCRS)

°Õ³ó±ðÌýÌýwas established inÌý1973 by the Board of RegentsÌýafterÌýitÌýinitiated a pilot study to assess the potentialÌýof a college credit advisory service. This project was a directÌýoutcome ofÌýrecommendations made by the ¿ì²¥ÊÓÆµ on Non-Traditional Study, a two-year venture supported byÌýthe CarnegieÌýCorporation, to provide a national perspective on the future of higher education, including recognizingÌýand grantingÌýcredit for postsecondary learning undertaken in noncollegiate settings. The ¿ì²¥ÊÓÆµ called for aÌýsystem to establishÌýcollege credit equivalencies for courses offered by government, industry, and other noncollegiateÌýsponsors.
